While a tear can happen, they do not occur easily. Many things can puncture, rip or tear your liner, but rest assured that the vinyl liners of today are made with high-quality materials, and it will not just tear on its own.
Nothing is impossible! Tears in your vinyl liner may be challenging to detect with the naked eye - but it is not impossible! With goggles, pool dye, and a good dose of patience, you can locate any tear in your liner!
There are hard things we have to do in life - repairing your vinyl liner tear does not have to be one of them. There are several repairs kits available, or you can contact a professional to assist you in your repair if DIY is not your thing. No need to let a tear get you worked up.
This is one of the biggest myths out there. Repair kits are made to work underwater. There is no need to drain your pool water to fix your vinyl pool tear. In fact, draining your pool is not recommended as your liner may shrink and then possibly tear as it stretches when being refilled.
It is very unlikely that your first experience with a pool liner tear will result in your liner needing to be replaced. Pool liners have a life expectancy of 6 -12 years. If you are before that, you should be able to repair your tear. Unfortunately though, if you are beyond the expected life, or if your repairs do not withstand regular use, you will need to consider a replacement.
